The Morrigan "When men forget my other
faces and seek to destroy each other, then my dark raven guides the dead
to rest and rebirth . . . yet all goddesses are one Goddess." the
Morrigan, from the Celtic Prelude to the Charge of the Goddess by Alisande
The Celtic goddess of Battle, the Morrigan's name translates as "Great
Queen" or "Phantom Queen". She can appear as a hag, a beautiful
woman or as a raven. As the Washer at the Ford, she washes the clothing
of those who are to die. Much like the Valkyries of the Norse, It is she
who chooses which warriors shall be slain in battle, and escorts them
to on their journey to the otherworld. She appears alone, or in triple
form with Macha and Badb.
