Brigid Known by many names, but primarily called Brigid ("one who exhalts herself"), or Bride, her Celtic name is Breo Saighead, meaning ""Fiery Arrow or Power." This triple goddess rules fire in its many forms. As the Fire of Inspiration, she is the patroness of poetry. As the Fire of the Hearth, she governs healing and fertility, and as the Fire of the Forge, she rules smithcraft and the martial arts. She is the goddess of the Sacred Flame of Kildare, which burns eternal, and now that she has been christianized into St Brigit, is tended by the nuns of that place. Her feast is Imbolc, when she rises from the frozen earth to bring light and warmth to the world.
