 Bear is symbolic of physical strength,
the power of the unconscious mind, and of going within. The bear also
has lunar symbolism and is sacred to the Goddess Diana/Artemis, whose
priestesses danced in bear guise. Many Native American traditions see
Bear as a shaman, and a creature of dreams and powerful visions. As a
totem, Bear teaches to enjoy and find healing in moments of solitude and
quiet introspection, and to open oneself to communication with Spirit.
