I have been attracted to the pentacle for sometime now, I think it is becaues of the ciricle and the direction of the points of the star . If I am not Wiccan but have similar values and thought, do you think I could wear it? My energy is of the earth, and I learn from the teaching of the universe .

We must each work with the symbols that call to us. If it works for you, and holds meaning and power for you, then don't let anyone stop you from using it.

I would first suggest some deep research into the history, symbolism and lore of the pentagram. This link is an excellent one, if you haven't already found it. http://www.ecauldron.com/pentagram.php

If you find that you are thoroughly comfortable with the symbol and its meanings to you, and can work that into your own spiritual path, the next question is, are you willing to be associated with those others who wear it? The pentacle is a very ancient symbol, and does not BELONG to the Wicce. Ceremonial mages have used it for years, and even the Christians used it a one time, to represent the 5 Wounds of Christ. However, most of the people who use it today are Wiccan/Pagan. If you wear the pentacle, many, both pagan and non-pagan will assume that you are Wiccan. Are you comfortable with people making that assumption?

Is there another symbol which could carry the same or even stronger symbolism than you invest into the pentagram. For instance if you're looking for a symbol of Earth, how about a globe? Or an Earth Goddess? Or a downward pointing triangle with a horizontal line through one side (the symbol of the Earth element) possibly enclosed in a circle. (Wow - thanks - you've just given me a great idea for a piece of jewelry, btw.) If another symbol could be more appropriate, then you may wish to look in that direction.

Know too, that the symbols are greater than any one path or tradition. The symbols, in all their connotations, both good and bad, belong to humanity and to the Source of All, and that whether you call that Great Spirit or Christ or the Dragon, it is all the same thing. If the symbol brings you closer to the All, then certainly use it.
