I know a wiccan who is solitary. I am one of the few who know she is. She has done a few rituals for our mutual benefit during some bad times at work. She has suprised me with the effectiveness of her craft. But recently she has episodes where she seems to be changed -- sort of an on off personality thing. I talked to her about it cuz she seems different. Sometimes a bit scary like she is going to spiral off into some unhappy place. I am quite certain she is channeling a spirit. She says she will not name it for me but what I gather it says it was human some sort of historical figure. I got a gut feeling this is dangerous and that the spirit is not some ex-human. I, because of experiences in the past have shunned most all contact with the path, but I find myself wanting to help her. But decidedly unprepared to do so. She says not to worry but I know she is doing this alone and I don't think she is safe. I don't want to assist her in this, but I want her to be safe.

It is possible that your friend has channeled something nasty and that it is not leaving.

Your first problem is that your friend does not seem to want help. Without permission, doing anything more overt than offering her information can be unethical.

One test that can be done to determine if she does have a negative entity is to ring a pure-toned bell in her presence and watch for her reaction. If you have access to more than one bell, trying a few different tones is wise as some tones just happen to jar for some people, and that is not always a conclusive test. If she is housing something negative she will likely react with anything from a shudder to a "stop that!" to leaving the room. Please note that this test by itself will not absolutely prove or disprove anything. I have witnessed one person who was clearly ridden by something very large and very negative, merely grin and say, "That won't do you any good," in a voice unlike it's host's normal tone.

If the test does seem to indicate a negative entity, it may at least give you the leeway to suggest to her that she does have a problem that she may need to look into.

What can be done about it depends on the strength of the entity and your friend's willingness to work through it. I would suggest a thorough cleansing of her home (on the physical as well as metaphysical) and that she go to the ocean and fully immerse herself in salt water for an hour or two. A long bath (tell her to be sure to submerge fully) will also work if you are landlocked.

Beyond that, chakra cleansings and more may be needed. It is hard to give more advice without seeing the situation personally. A "professional" (another strong and experienced priest/ess/mage whom she respects and trusts) may need to be consulted.

If she is not open to do anything about this, then I would suggest this:

Make her a gift of cleansing herbs and oils mixed with kosher (coarse grained) salt. A nice combination is rosemary, sage, lemongrass, cedar and pine, but use what works for you. Put it in a pretty gift jar, etc.

If you can afford to, also make a gift of one or more of the books below.

Send her clean clear, white light energy in the hopes that she will accept it and use it to heal herself

Realize that you can only make decisions for yourself, and determine to protect yourself, to be there if she asks for help, but to otherwise allow her to make her own decisions.
